Trying to block the sun

Last year the property behind our house sold. The first thing they did was cut down all the trees to develop a new neighborhood.

My backyard is on the west side of the house.

All last summer we avoided the backyard after 1:00pm. Oh, also our living room and kitchen are on the back side of the house.  That’s right every night glaring sun with absolutely no shade.

So this year we are trying to create or own shade.

That’s right…two umbrellas and a canopy/gazebo thing.  The instructions said it would take 20 minutes for 2 peopleto set it up.

The instructions lied.

4 people and maybe 3 hours. Spread or over two days because we walked away in frustration more than once.

But now it’s finished and I love it!

I think I’m going to get some lights on the way home tonight and we can enjoy our gyros on the shaded back deck.

I’ll post a picture work all umbrellas and lights later today.

Have a fabulous Monday friends.

Only 7 more weeks of school!

Day 6: Am I cultivating a weed?

It’s day six of my 21 days.

I’m beginning to have more authentic real life fave to face conversations and am thinking less in terms of status  updates. A couple of nights ago,  I had a great visit with my brother,  I think it’s the first time we’ve really talked as adults.  Last night,  I was playing tether ball with Emma and her friends.  One of the friends dad and I had a nice chat.  I would have missed that before.  I think I’m liking this change.

It is still weird to take a picture and not immediately share it on Facebook.

And I really want to ask my smart gardening friends what plant this is,  or am I cultivating a weed?
